GamesAid charity selection process – process to pick charities for support from industry begins today

People in UK games industry who are GamesAid members can nominate charities helping disadvantaged young people for support until Monday 4th March.

Thursday 15th February, 10am – GamesAid has announced the start of its charity selection process for 2024/2025 and is encouraging small children’s charities to secure nominations before

GamesAid is an umbrella charity that provides financial and in kind assistance to a range of children’s charities supported by people working within the UK games industry.

Every year, the charity selects a range of causes by holding an election amongst the GamesAid membership, which consists of people working in the UK games industry, to decide which small charities to back each year.

A charity can be nominated for support provided it:

  • Demonstrates that it supports disadvantaged children or young people in the UK.
  • Has a turnover of less than £3m.
  • Spends less than 30% of its running costs on administration.
  • Is proposed by a GamesAid member.

Charities who nominate themselves to receive support from GamesAid prior to Monday 4th March and meet the criteria outlined will proceed to a final vote amongst the GamesAid membership, which will once again be asked to pick five causes to support this coming year.

George Osborn, Chair of GamesAid, said:”GamesAid has played a significant role in supporting the work of children’s charities across the UK, generating over £4m in donations for causes up and down the land over 16 years.

By joining GamesAid to nominate a charity or support our cause, you help to demonstrate the power our industry has to do good and make lives better for people who need it most.”
